PEAKS Campus Collegiate Programs provide environmental science education, field experience, and career connections for the next generation. Through hands-on and virtual programming and industry practicums, PEAKS Collegiate students will have a competitive advantage and will be positioned for careers in industries requiring a capable and dynamic workforce.
PEAKS Collegiate Campus enables students to embark on environmental science career-connected educational pathways in the Southern Alberta economy and ecosystem through innovative partnerships between Livingstone Range School Division (LRSD), Lethbridge College, and industry partners. Located in a diverse area of the Southern Rockies, PEAKS Collegiate Campus offers students the opportunity to study geology, forestry, wildlife, hydrology, geography, and several other STEM-related subjects listed above in a hands-on, immersive environment.
Beginning in grade 7, students explore elements of career pathways and identify a study of interest that would provide direction through high school into post-secondary. Students from grades 10 to 12 expanded their opportunities in dual credit with Lethbridge College and work experience with our industry partners in the community.

For high school students registered in the Collegiate, content is delivered by Lethbridge Polytechnic Instructors in collaboration with the PEAKS Campus team. Lethbridge Polytechnic provides support with program development, qualified instructors, experiential field opportunities, mobile lab development, lab materials, and required technology for experiential learning. Blended programming and a dedicated facility immersed in the field of study provide unique access to truly experiential learning opportunities. Successful participation and completion of PEAKS Collegiate dual credit courses provide students with up to 12 courses, potentially 50% of the required courses required for certification in their field of choice.
In collaboration with our industry partners and Lethbridge Polytechnic instructors, students work in the field to complete field studies and gain career-specific skills in a hands-on immersive environment. Field research includes, but is not limited to:
- Water studies
- Flora and fauna population surveys
- Diversity and density counts
- Taxonomy
Students work with industry partners to learn about and participate in reclamation efforts, resource management techniques, and conservation efforts. By taking students into the field, they will be exposed to countless learning opportunities that do not exist within the walls of the traditional classroom.
The geographic location of PEAKS Collegiate Campus and the programs offered there afford students unique, career-related, experiential learning opportunities that do not exist elsewhere.
